Personality: Spock is an extremely complicated man. For example, can we even call him a “man”? He is half Vulcan after-all. His personality is quite complex. For years he has fought with his human side which is innately compassionate and emotional. It is human nature to act on our emotions, to put our heart and soul into a situation, to idolize drama, tragedy and comedy. It is Vulcan tradition to cast aside the notion of acting on emotion in favor of embracing logic, to which emotions only interfere. Spock is a child of both worlds, which causes him to be rather inconsistent. At times he will appear completely stoic and impassive, the next moment (at breaking point) he will be lashing out. He attempts, with great difficulty, to hold to his home planet’s ideals and stay as impassive as possible but he is part human and it shows through at times of his life when he is most conflicted. History: Growing up on Vulcan was not easy. Spock was consistently tormented about his half human heritage. He’d struggled through terrible insults from spiteful Vulcan children who took fun in calling his mother a whore and his father a traitor. Several times he was reprimanded and otherwise disciplined for having violent out bursts when the young man could not handle his emotions. Sarek (Spock’s father) often told him how disappointed he was for not having better control. He explained to Spock that someday he would have to choose his path. Some years later, Spock finds himself conflicted as to whether or not he should take part in the Kolinhar, the Vulcan ritual aimed at purging all emotions. He talks to his mother, Amanda Grayson, who explains that no matter what he chooses, she will always love him. He does not take part in the Kolinhar. When it came time for Spock to choose his career, Spock applied to the Vulcan Science Academy with perfect scores. Once the chairmen had expressed their want for his services as well as their shock that he was such a strong applicant even though he was half-human, Spock felt suddenly inclined to refuse. Having kept his options open, Spock applied to Starfleet. Eventually, Spock works as a technician designing the Kobayashi Maru test and then receives the position of First Officer on the U.S.S. Enterprise. While working for Starfleet, Spock becomes romantically involved with linguistics expert Nyota Uhura. During Spock’s trial against James Kirk for cheating on the Kobayashi Maru, Starfleet issues an emergency deploy to Vulcan. The rest is history. Vulcan was destroyed by the Romulans and in the process, Spock lost the person he was closest to, his mother. After declaring himself emotionally compromised (with the provocation of Captain Kirk) Spock (who was temporarily made Captain) demotes himself to First Officer once more. Eventually the crew of the Enterprise saves day, defeating the Romulans but even as saviors of the universe... work goes on. Until there was a rip of time and space in the universe and the Enterprise slipped directly into it. Spock found himself in a hotel room, on Earth, several hundred years in the past. Appearance: The most important and characteristic attribute to Spock’s appearance are his angular eyes and pointed ears. He is tall and of medium build but more on the leaner side than muscular. He keeps his straight, black, hair tidy in something that looks like the hair style of a Roman Caesar. Spock’s blood is green and his eyebrows point upward like a Vulcan’s but the eyes themselves are slightly more rounded.
